Boise School District Leads the Way in Radon Safety with Ecosense Radon Technology

Boise, Idaho - April 23, 2025 - The Boise School District allied with Ecosense to use their smart radon detection and monitoring solutions for conducting district-wide radon testing to establish safer learning environments.

The partnership came after elevated amounts of radon had been recorded in a district's junior high school. The district performed tests, which indicated that radon levels in basement classrooms of cafeteria structures varied from 1.9 pCi/L to 5.6 pCi/L, exceeding the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) action radon level of 4.0 pCi/L. The District subsequently increased the HVAC system's fresh air intake and added regular testing devices to correct the situation.

The Boise School District selected Ecosense technology for its unparalleled accuracy, real-time data reporting, and ease of use after a complete review of the other technologies available in the market.

“We were looking for a solution that was accurate, user-friendly, and gave us real-time data we could trust,” said the HAZMAT Coordinator for the Boise School District. “Ecosense’s EcoQube Pro devices gave us exactly that. The devices are incredibly easy to deploy, and the continuous monitoring capabilities allow us to respond quickly and appropriately. It’s the kind of technology that makes a tough job easier — and safer. Furthermore, Ecosense’s EcoQube Pro and EcoGuard models provided us with high-accuracy digital radon detection with rapid results, enabling our team to make informed decisions and implement mitigation measures if necessary.”

The District has adopted Ecosense’s award-winning technology, establishing a new benchmark for school safety. Both EcoQube Pro — a set of professional-grade continuous radon monitors — and EcoGuard, Ecosense’s expert radon monitoring service, are NRPP-approved. Together, they provide fast and precise digital radon detection, enabling quick mitigation actions and data-based decisions.

“Real-time radon awareness combined with immediate action becomes necessary to combat the invisible threats radon presents,” according to Insoo Park, who serves as both Founder and CEO of Ecosense. “Our company takes pride in helping the Boise School District maintain students and staff safety through precise ongoing radon monitoring. The leadership approach of this district demonstrates how school systems across the country should embrace proactive air quality management.”

The testing will continue throughout the year, with student well-being and transparency being the main priorities. The District will use the gathered data to create lasting indoor air quality plans to protect every student and staff member in their facilities.
