After 18 Years Incarcerated, Author and Entrepreneur Launches Youth Initiative Through Book and Brand

By: Get News

Brandon D. Cox, an Omaha native currently incarcerated in Minnesota, has turned an 18-year sentence into a movement rooted in purpose, resilience, and impact. Cox recently released Hustle Reimagined: An Entrepreneur’s Guide to Beating the Odds, a 5-star rated memoir that shares how he founded the streetwear brand Crookd Crown Clothier from behind bars.

Cox is now raising $10,000 through Kickstarter and GoFundMe to support a national youth empowerment campaign. The initiative will provide books, streetwear, and mentorship to under-resourced communities across the U.S.

“This isn’t just about clothes or a book,” Cox said. “It’s about showing the next generation that pain doesn’t have to define your purpose—and that freedom starts from within.”

Partnerships and Community Impact

In early 2024, Crookd Crown Clothier partnered with the NFL Alumni Gala, donating 20% of event proceeds to youth-focused charities. The brand also runs weekly T-shirt giveaways through TikTok (@crookdcrown_official), spreading messages of motivation and belonging to underserved communities.

Looking ahead, Cox hopes to establish a partnership with Shopify and commit 50% of Crookd Crown and book proceeds toward scholarships, apparel donations, and mental health programs for at-risk youth.

About the Book: Hustle Reimagined

Now available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, Hustle Reimagined offers a candid, motivational blueprint for building purpose through adversity. With a blend of memoir and mindset, the book explores entrepreneurship, incarceration, fatherhood, and legacy.
